Bird's Opening - download book

   Bird's Opening, 1 f4, has been played since the 17th century, and quite possibly earlier. The following quick blow-out is the earliest game I can find.

   While the quality of Black's play was not exactly of GM calibre here, the point of view that the advance of the f-pawn should not be taken seriously, that White's position can be overrun at once persists even today, which is a lucky break for all ot us Bird practitioners!
